Hey Jon,
This would have been 1982 or 1983.
To a young pup like me, it was impressive feat. Unix had hit some resource limit. (inodes maybe?) And it was in some boot and crash death spiral. I thought you used adb to up the the kernel limit, and all was well.
I was doing my BS thesis with Bert and Tron at the time.

Its funny that in today's global situation, people still make comments such as "stay safe" when people travel to India and similar places. Please be convinced no one is safe anywhere or we are as safe as one is anywhere. India is a 'must' destination.

Good write up. Actually Dave was my Leader's instructor at Pointe Claire pool when I was 16. We got together again when he arrived in Ottawa for Family Medicine training. We spent 2 years training together. Cathy I knew from your year in high school. Incidently, she has now made captain at Air Canada! We were invited for this launch too, but when it was delayed I couldn't reschedule my summer holidays. I have been watching Dave regularily on the internet live feed of NASA TV. We are hoping all goes well tomorrow when they return.
