At a G8 press conference, George Bush finally acknowledged what scientists and other world leaders have known for years.
“I recognize that the surface of the earth is warmer and that an increase in greenhouse gases caused by humans is contributing to the problem.”
However, he continues to oppose the Kyoto protocol:
“Kyoto would have wrecked our economy. I don’t see how you can be president of the United States and agree to an agreement that would have put a lot of people out of work.”
People like Bush and Cheney’s buddies in the oil and gas industries, perhaps?
